Arne Jacobsen(아르네 야콥슨)은 전후 스칸디나비아 건축계와 디자인계에 가장 큰 영향을 미친 인물로, 20세기를 대표하는 가구 아이콘인 에그 체어, 스완 체어, 시리즈7 체어 등을 디자인했으며, 또한 덴마크 건축사에 초기 모더니스트로도 그 이름을 남겼다. Royal Danish Academy of Arts에서 건축을 전공한 그는 1930년에 자신의 회사를 설립하여 1971년 세상을 뜰 때까지 건축가, 제품 디자이너, 인테리어 디자이너, 텍스타일 디자이너 등 여러 방면으로 활발하게 활동하였다. 건축가로서 그의 대표적인 프로젝트는 영국 옥스퍼드 대학의 St.Catherine's College와 코펜하겐의 로얄 SAS 호텔이 있다. 그 중 로얄 SAS호텔은 건물 설계뿐 아니라 실내 인테리어, 호텔 내부의 모든 가구, 조명 및 집기에 이르기까지 총체적인 디자인을 맡아 진행하였으며, Egg Chair와 Swan Chair는 이 호텔의 라운지를 위해 디자인된 제품이다. 그는 호텔 내 기프트숍에서 판매하는 기념품 하나까지도 직접 디자인 했을 정도로 철저한 완벽주의로 알려졌으며, 로얄 SAS 호텔은 오늘까지도 코펜하겐을 방문하면 꼭 가봐야 할 관광명소로 손꼽힌다. 또한 Ant Chair와 Series 7 Chair 는 그에게 제품디자이너로서도 큰 명성을 안겨다 줬으며, 제조사인 Fritz Hansen 또한 이를 바탕으로 세계적인 회사로 도약하는 계기를 마련한다. 아르네 야콥슨의 시대를 초월한 유기적인 곡선이 돋보이는 디자인은 오늘날에 이르러서도 대중들에게 많은 사랑을 받고 있으며, 세계적인 디자인 유산으로 인정받고 있다.

He majored architecture in the Royal Danish Academy of Arts and established his own company in 1930.

He worked as architect, product, interior, textile designer till the end of his life. His representative projects are the St. Catherine’s college in Oxford of England and the SAS hotel of Royal Copenhagen. He designed from interior to all the furniture in the hotel of SAS, the lighting.
